Cast- Away

The title is a word play relating directly to the theme of domestic labor- referring to something or someone we have tossed aside or exiled, a person who has smuggled themselves overseas, or to the “caste” system of hierarchy within our society.

The palette is red, white and blue. The form is hung on the wall from a fleshy hanger, pinned back, skirt hitched up like a flamenco dancer with curls off ribbons hanging down. The blood splatter is cartoon-ed, stylized like a zombie’s head might explode in a video game, but made of red felt like a Christmas stocking and emerging from a bouquet of cupcake paper liners.
